Weekly Tip #6 ~ Evening Picnic

It's Spring and the weather is changing. Moods and attitudes are changing too! Let's have an evening picnic. It's probably a little too chilly to have an outdoors one so let's be creative and have an indoor picnic on the living room floor (or whichever room you'll feel the most comfortable).

Preparation:
Schedule a date this week for when you'll have 30 - 45 uninterrupted minutes together. Make the date and KEEP it no matter how tired you are. This is the first step to reconnecting . . .

During the week, plan your indoor picnic menu. Do you want to have your favorite snacks, favorite take-out, or something more elaborate? Dig out your picnic basket (or some other bag) and toss in your eating utensils, etc. If you're planning snacks, one of you will need to take that menu to the grocery store. This can be done anytime during the week. If you're planning take out, one of you can pick it up while the other is getting the kids to bed.

The Date:
When you're little ones are asleep, pull out your favorite blanket and lay it out in your chosen room. Grab your picnic basket and set out your meal. Grab some candles or light a fire (in a fireplace only please smile). If you have plastic wine glasses, enjoy some bubbly (even if it's just sparkling water bubbly!), and have a toast to each other. Smile, chat, nibble, enjoy . . .

Time Involved:
Shopping time (or take out pick up/ordering time). Prep time is only a few minutes. The rest is your thoroughly enjoyable date.

Cost:
Depends on your menu - anywhere from a few dollars on up.

Follow-up:
How did it go? Did you enjoy the time together? Did you keep the date? Have you scheduled time for next week?

See you next week!
